What is a doula?
The word โdoulaโ comes from ancient Greek, meaning โwoman who serves.โ Today, “doula” refers to a professional trained to provide emotional, physical, and informational support to women throughout pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum. Therefore, a postpartum doula serves women during their postpartum period, after the birth of their baby.
When a baby is born, so is a mother.
- Julia Jones
The transition to motherhood is one of the most ancient and sacred pathways, but it is no longer one that we walk with a community and a village by our side. Postpartum doula care helps fill that void by centering the mother, ensuring her needs are met, and supporting her mind, body, and soul as she supports new life.
Postpartum doula care helps a mother blossom into her full potential and bloom into motherhood in a way that feels more empowered and whole.
Olive & Bloom celebrates that every family is unique, as each flower in a garden. Therefore, postpartum doula care is for everyone. Your transition to motherhood, fatherhood, or parenthood is equally essential and valid, even if your journey includes fostering, adoption, surrogacy, or beyond.
Olive & Bloom services in and around the Lakes Region and Capital Region of New Hampshire. Please contact for more information regarding service areas.
